Care and Resource Utilization
Care and Resource Utilization, also known as “Utilization Management”) are terms that recently have come into use by the Department of Health and NHS and long in use in North America. In the past terms such as “Demand Management” and “Supply Management” were used in an attempt to describe programs and processes related to matching the requirement for clinical resources with the patients need for such services. UM is defined as ‘The examination and evaluation of the appropriateness of the utilization of an organisation’s resources.’ MADC has vast experience in UM methodologies used by both Trusts (providers) and Primary Care Trusts (payers). There are multiple components within a comprehensive UM programme offered by MADC in their product portfolio.
With this in mind MADC has developed methodologies combined with toolkits for just this purpose over the last number of years for the UKs up and coming environment.
